The history of Venice and coffee are closely and inseparably linked. The first expedition of coffee arrived in Venice with silks, spices and perfumes in 1624, where the first coffee from Western Europe – the Bottega del Caffè – opened its doors in 1640, launching and establishing a lasting and modern fashion.
Until the late 1600s, the Turkish name cavé (khave) was known in Europe, when the name coffee replaced it by most languages. Our brand also refers to the Turkish name and Venice: Ca’Vè Caffè.
